Lead Agriculture Economist in Food and Agriculture Global Practice

Dorte Verner is the Lead Agriculture Economist in the Agriculture Global Practice at The World Bank. Previously, Ms. Verner was the Principal Economist at the Inter-American Development Bank where she led the global evaluation of IDB’s climate related interventions and the Climate Coordinator and Senior Economist in the World Bank’s Middle East and North Africa Region and the Latin America and the Caribbean region. Ms. Verner has developed World Bank projects, led knowledge products and published extensively in the areas of rural development, climate change and poverty reduction. Before she joined the World Bank in 1996, she worked in the Development Center of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and as a researcher at the European University Institute in Florence and the Sorbonne in Paris. Ms. Verner holds a Ph.D. in Macroeconomics and Econometrics from the European University Institute, Italy, and a postgraduate degree in Economics from the University of Aarhus, Denmark.
