Executive Secretary of the Regional Cooperative Program for Technological Development and Modernization of Coffee Production (PROMECAFE)
René León-Gómez, currently Executive Secretary of the Regional Cooperative Program for Technological Development and Modernization of Coffee Production (PROMECAFE), which promotes coordination and technical exchange between 9 coffee-producing countries in Meso America and the Caribbean, along with the membership and support of recognized institutions, such as: IICA, CATIE and WCR who participate as technical partners of PROMECAFE.
René is an Agronomist Engineer, graduated from the Pan American Agricultural School (ZAMORANO), with a master’s degree in Business Management and Finance from the Central American University of Technology (UNITEC). He has more than fifteen years of experience in the management of coffee institutions, both on a regional level and in his country, Honduras; also, he takes advantage of his experience as a small coffee producer.
The focus of his work has been to promote the strengthening and development of coffee production with an emphasis on meeting the needs and main challenges that affect the profitability and sustainability of small producers, combining efforts to promote innovation through cooperative, participatory work and encouraging the establishment of strategic alliances in the region.
