He has an extensive career of more than 25 years in public and private service, both nationally and internationally, with a special emphasis on development and regional integration. He has served as Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, Vice Minister of Business Development and Chairman of the Boards of Bancoldex and Procolombia, Executive Director for Colombia and Peru at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), headquartered in Washington D.C, and he has also been a member of Congress and Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives.
